World (FMF Post and a Great Song!)featured

It’s time for Five Minute Friday and the song of the week.  So this week I’m going to do them both at once.  Doesn’t get much better than that!

I have missed chatting with my online friends at the FMF Twitter party the last couple of weeks. Hopefully next week I can manage to “attend” the party. It really is so much fun! And guess what– You are invited!  You can join us on Thursday evenings on Twitter by using hashtag #fmfparty. Or click on over to Kate’s blog and join us at the link-up.

The FMF prompt for this week is WORLD.

And here we go in 3….2….1….

I wish I would have written this last night after hearing the prompt. I was feeling very inspired, but I was so TIRED! Almost two solid days on the road with three kids will do that to you. But it’s worth it for the memories and the relationships we’re investing in.  So, I hope my train of thought doesn’t derail as I attempt to spill the words out without hindrance.

When I think of the world, I think of You, the One who created it all.  I see the earth from an aerial view, like we’re here together above it all and looking down upon what You see.

I envision fire covering the earth.  Not a scary fire, but the fire of Your love.  Jesus, You said that You came to bring fire on the earth.  Kindle the fire of Your love and stoke the flame!  Let your fame spread from coast to coast on every continent that You created.

I see shimmering glory wrapping the earth in a golden blanket of delight. Oh God! Let Your glory fill the earth as water covers the sea! {my 5 minutes ended somewhere around here}

I also come down closer to the ground, and I see the world You died for.  Your precious ones. The chosen, lovely faces. All different colors and races–so lovely. I see them hurting and hungry. I see them abused and neglected. I see the injustice as the hearts of the broken cry out for rescue.

Come, oh God!  Come through the hands, feet, and heart of Your church and rescue them.  For the earth and its precious people belong to You.

God put the nations in my heart years ago.  Although this isn’t my season for traveling (I know I’m called to stay right now for the sake of my children), there will come a day when we will go.  When my husband and I will go together. When my children will go. We are the sent ones. Even now I cannot even ponder this without tears welling up in my eyes.

I can remember a time when I was driving my car to school at Jacksonville State (sometime around 1999–yikes! That’s a long time ago!), and the Holy Spirit absolutely wrecked me.  Not my car, but my heart. I was listening to my Hillsong CD when all of a sudden tears started streaming down my face. It was one of the many times that God was branding my heart with His love for the nations.

Ask and I’ll give the nations to you

Oh, Lord! That’s the cry of my heart!

“You Said” is the song that was playing.  It’s an oldie but a goodie from the By Your Side Hillsong album.  I hope you enjoy listening to it today! (As always, you can download the song below if you want!) May God bless you abundantly as you rest in His marvelous grace!
