What We’re Readingfeatured

We love to read at our house. Here are some good books that we are reading and loving lately, from the baby to the Dad.

My Little Buddy
18 month old Isaac (and his sisters, too) is enjoying Giraffes Can’t Dance, by Giles Andreae.
One of my favorite lines from the book: “‘We all can dance,’ he said, ‘when we find music that we love.'”  Ah, yes!  We were all born dancers!

The Princess
Isabella (age 4) has loved Charlotte’s Web so much that she wishes we could read it over and over.
It is the first chapter book I have read out loud to her.  If she had her way, we would start it again every time we finish it.

The Glitter Cowgirl
Lily (almost 7) has enjoyed reading stories from James Harriot’s Treasury for Children, a collection of stories about a traveling veterinarian and the animals he encounters along the way.  Written with rich language, humor, and heart, some of them have made me cry!
Umm–that doesn’t take much actually.  Just ask my daughters.

The Mama
Still reading Plan Your Year, by Pam Barnhill. I love the way I can read a chapter and let it sink in really good before reading the next one.
I love getting advice from homeschooling moms who’ve been at it longer than me. I’m also reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, Home Education by Charlotte Mason, and Handbook of Nature Study, by Anna Comstock.

Yep, I like to have several going at once.

The Daddy
My husband just finished reading God’s Generals: The Revivalists, by Roberts Liardon.
He’s still reading The Coffee Shop that Changed a Church, by Steve Parr.
