Wait: Finding Joy in the Journey

Wait: Finding Joy in the Journeyfeatured

It’s time for five minute Friday again!  Or Saturday in my case.  I’m about to set my timer for five minutes and just go for it. It’s really fun!  If you have five minutes and enjoy just letting your heart flow out through your fingers unrestrained, join up with us at katemotaung.com.  This week’s prompt is “Wait.”

So here we go…

When I heard the prompt for this week, I almost immediately thought of a song by Steffany Gretzinger called “Getting There.”  It’s all about enjoying the journey and discovering all the hidden treasures on your way to where your going.  More on that in a minute.

Waiting can be hard sometimes, but it’s necessary.  We all have things that the Lord has promised us, and we have to wait on them, for years many times. And in those times of waiting, the Lord teaches you and refines you.  He molds you and shapes you.  He makes you even more beautiful.  He strengthens your heart.

When you are pregnant, you have to wait for nine months to see your promise.  Those last few weeks are some of the hardest!  It’s just that you are so ready to see your baby.  I remember being so ready to have my baby in my arms instead of in my womb!

Some of you are pregnant with a promise.  You have things that God has planted deep inside you, and you are in a season of waiting for those things to come to pass.  You are waiting to see the fruit of the promise.

Today, as you wait on Him, allow Him to strengthen your heart and fill you with joy in the journey!  Like Steffany’s song says:

…There’s a reason for the journey, There is purpose in the learning…

…But we’re getting there
We’re determined to discover
All that You have hidden for us
Along the way…
