The Master Painter

The Master Painter

Last Monday night at about 3:00 a.m., as moms often are, I was awakened by my two-year-old son.  Now he’s old enough to go back to sleep by himself, but I had not been home for his bedtime to tuck him in, so I agreed to rock him for a few minutes in the rocking chair.  As I was rocking Isaac, listening to the rain sounds play on my tablet, I saw a picture in my mind.  It was as clear as crystal, and I knew almost immediately what it meant.

Here is what I saw:

I saw a big {huge!} canvas on an easel.  It was almost blank.  Only about 2-3% of it was painted, but that portion was painted with beautiful colors.  I saw blues, reds, yellows, greens, oranges…  Then I saw God’s enormous hand reach toward the canvas to paint.  As I looked more closely at the tip of the paintbrush where the bristles were, I saw us. Yes, that’s right.  We (the children of God) were in and among the bristles, with our feet held in place where the bristles were glued in.  We all were holding tiny paint brushes.  And as He reached toward the canvas with His brush, we were the ones who were actually making the marks on the canvas.  We all moved together as one as His strong hand moved the brush over the canvas.

The whole picture is a representation of the church today and how God chooses to partner with us to see His dreams fulfilled on the earth.  By the church I don’t mean the church building down the street.  I mean God’s sons and daughters, all held together by His love and grace.  I’m talking about the Body of Christ, and that includes you and me!

The fact that the canvas was blank represents unlimited potential.  God can do anything!  The possibilities are endless.  Our only job is to rest in Him and use our little paintbrush to color the world right where He places us.  That’s right, mama! You can make a difference right where you are, wherever that may be.

It’s like we all are flowing together in unity with how He’s moving and what He’s doing, but we all have a part to paint.  We get to partner with Him and each other to make the canvas beautiful—to make a masterpiece.

God is the Master Painter, and in His infinite wisdom and love He chooses to partner with you and me to make His dreams become reality on the earth.  What an honor!

What has He put in your heart to do?  You can trust His guiding hand.

Today, let’s just rest in our little part of the paintbrush. He’s got us held securely in His love.  We might not have everything figured out, and we might not know exactly where He’s going or what He’s doing.  But we can trust Him.

You are a special part of His dream!  You have a unique role to play in making the world beautiful.

Be blessed, graceful mama!  You are amazing!

Love, Tasha
