Hello, friend! I hope you had a great weekend. I know I did!
Things have been a little busy around here, too, because my husband is in Sweden. We are such a good team when he is here, so I’m definitely feeling his absence.
I miss him, too! It’s crazy. This is the longest we’ve ever been apart in our eight years of marriage so far, and he’s all the way across the ocean. He’s getting to minister at a youth camp this week in Sweden with some of my favorite people, and my heart is there even though I can’t be! Sweden is 7 hours ahead, so it’s taking some getting used to–figuring out when we can talk and stuff. We’re only able to message and Skype when he’s got wifi access, and there’s only one place that is happening. My heart is so full of excitement for him, and I can’t wait to hear all about it when he gets home.
My oldest daughter Lily is having the hardest time with Daddy being away, and it has surprised me a little. She’s so tough and bold and strong-willed… But inside she is so sensitive. It’s so interesting to see how things affect the personalities of your children, isn’t it? And not always fun. I know this is something God (and Mama) can help her work through though.
Do you sometimes feel like you are not creative? You may have even said, “I’m just not creative.” Well, I beg to differ, because you were created by God (who is infinitely creative), and He made you to be like Him. In His image and likeness. You don’t have to feel creative, but the truth is that you are creative. You can use your creativity to make this world more like He wants it to be!
Sometimes, we just have to accept a truth before we feel it or really experience its effects.
This week, do something creative and do it for Him. Do it with Him.
Sometimes, I like to paint for Him. He loves it every time! He will love whatever you create for Him! I usually just paint if my kids are painting. I’ll just sit down with them for a few minutes and use their watercolors. It’s really fun, and gives you a chance to be a kid again.
Some of you might actually be good at art, so this will be easy for you, but you may not have ever thought about creating something for God. It is a way we can express our love to Him, so let’s explore this new way to praise!
Week Eleven Challenges:
Challenge #1: Paint a picture for Jesus!
Challenge #2 (for moms with kids): Explain to your kids that they can paint a picture for Jesus, and let them go for it! (I actually bought a “worship journal” for Lily where she draws pictures for Jesus during our worship services at church. It is a great way for young kids to interact with the Lord. She gets bored still during long worship sessions, but drawing and coloring for Jesus is a great way for her to be engaged.)
Week Eleven Activation Prayer: God, as I create for you, let my creativity run free. Let me tap into the creativity that you put in me in a new way! I love you, Lord!
