My Goals for 2015 – It’s Gonna Be a Big Year!featured

As we head into 2015, I am so excited about what God has in store for our family this year.  I have a great expectancy for what He is going to do!  Even though He exists outside of time (and we really do, too, if you think about it), I love how God set up time in seasons and years for us so there is a fresh start every 365 days!  We get a chance to reflect on the past year, consider the things we want to accomplish in the upcoming year, and go for it!

As I make my goals, I am aware that only God knows exactly how things will turn out.  There are certain goals that will probably not be accomplished.  I’m sure He has some wonderful surprises in store for me this year, and that is so exciting to think about! He may lead me in a different direction in a certain area, or He may show me something that will work even better than what I am planning now.  So my goals are subject to change as the wind blows. {wink}

Still, I know it’s important, necessary even, for me to set certain goals and expectations for myself.  They will help me know where to focus my energy and time in order to be a good steward of what God has given me and what He has called me to.

Here are my 2015 goals:

  1. Read 12 books this year (one per month) about a variety of topics including marriage, motherhood, time management, finance, and homeschooling.
  2. Believe God for better health for myself and my family.  Actively pursue it by writing a declaration full of truth from God’s word by the end of January, declaring that truth 1 time each day, and following God’s leading as He shows me areas where I can change.
  3. Revamp my wardrobe.  (Get rid of stuff that doesn’t make me feel beautiful, stuff that doesn’t fit, that shirt from 7 years ago that has a stain anyway, etc… and find good deals on things that I LOVE.)
  4. Pray for 15 minutes each day.  Dive into the book of Psalms for 15 minutes each day.  Journal about what God shows me for 5 minutes.  Believing God for life changing revelation!
  5. Exercise at least a few minutes every day.  (You ladies that exercise/run consistenly… more power to you!  Keep it up!  I have been bad about running consistently for a few weeks, and then giving it up when life gets in the way. If I can start small, but remain consistent, it will be an improvement for me!)

  1. Consistently get the kids in bed by 8:00 p.m. during the week so hubby and I can have quality time.
  2. Read three books on marriage/sex. (see above)
  3. Go on one date every three months.
  4. One Friday night a month, spend the evening talking about our dreams and goals, reading together, worshipping together, etc.  We’ll call it our Dream Night.  Believing God for a closer relationship than ever before!

  1. Begin incorporating Nature Study into our weekly routine.  At least 1 time per week from February on, do a nature study.
  2. Incorporate a daily Morning Time with my kids where we can worship, pray, and read the Bible together.  Enjoy Morning Time 4 times a week starting next week.
  3. Create 20 “busy bags” to keep my younger children occupied and engaged while I’m teaching Lily other things.
  4. Start and maintain a Reading Streak!  Go for 100 days in a row (we have 3 days so far!).
  5. Intentionally play with each child one-on-one for 15 minutes 1 time per week. (This may not seem like much, but it will be an improvement for me.) Believing God for deep, meaningful relationships with each of my children!

Home Organization:

*Note: These goals are really important to me, as they will help life in our home become more peaceful and less chaotic. (There is beautiful chaos that comes with the territory of having small children, and then there is that chaos that can be avoided.  I am hoping to eliminate some of the unnecessary chaos from our lives.)  It will benefit my marriage, my relationship with my children, and every member of my family. Believing God for an organized home!

  1. Complete the 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home Challenge. (I am giving myself longer than 4 weeks to finish it though!)
  2. Create a household storage plan.
  3. Find seven items a day to get rid of, until my house feels *good* and uncluttered. (In my world, know I won’t do this every day, but every little bit helps! I will work toward making this a part of my daily routine.)

  1. Build a vibrant, healthy community of moms who encourage each other and build each other up at My Graceful Life.
  2. Write 46 Spotlight articles, 46 Song of the Week articles, and 120 other Content articles for My Graceful Life, including 1 book review each month, and 1 goal update each month.
  3. Write and publish my first book.
  4. Write and publish my first children’s book.
  5. Believe God for a supernatural increase in our finances, and follow Him as He shows me what to do.  (I am believing for a specific amount of income, and I know God can do exceedingly more than I ask!)

Okay, so here’s my confession: I’ve never done this yearly goal thing before.  I may be overdoing it (that’s a lot of goals up there!).  But the good news is, there is GRACE!  At least I know where I’m headed.  I’ll try to keep you posted on my progress this year. (I’ll write about GRACE later.  If God had never taught me about embracing His grace, I would never be able to successfully accomplish much of anything. {smile} For real.)

Be blessed!  May your 2015 be full of grace and beauty!

What are some of your goals for this year?  I’d love to hear about them.  What are you believing God for this year?
