Grace–It’s Good News!featured

Let’s be honest.  How are you feeling today?  Is your joy-meter running low?  Is your love tank feeling a little empty? How about peace–are you feeling peaceful or anxious today? Do you need more patience?  What about self-control?

Well, I’ve got good news!  GRACE is the answer.  Grace is God’s gift, and it is good news for the weary mom who needs a boost.  I’ve been reading a lot about grace lately, wanting God to show me more of what it’s all about.  What I read this morning is so encouraging! (So encouraging in fact, that I’m going to split this into two great posts.)

First, I found that I have been chosen by grace.  I have not been chosen because of my perfect good works.  I have not been left out of the party because of my lack thereof.

Friend, you are included in God’s family by His grace.  He did not decide to include you because you were perfect on your own, so He will never throw you out based on your lack of perfection.

Romans 11:6 [NLT] And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is–free and undeserved.

Now, that is good news.  But it gets even better.

Have you ever been afraid of disappointing God?  I know I have!  I used to be tormented by the fear of not pleasing Him so badly that I thought it was hopeless.  Ever thought that you might mess up bad enough to be left out of His family?  Well then, here’s some more good news for you!

In Romans 11:22, we find that when a branch is cut off from God’s family tree, it is because of not believing in His good news about grace! The good news that Jesus finished it all!  You will never be cut off for not performing perfectly enough.  Restful belief in the power of His grace is what will keep you.  The only ways to be cut off is to try to earn good favor with God on your own.  You can’t do it!  So let go, and just trust.Simply Rest in Him

We also see (in the same passage) that even after a branch has been cut off, it can be grafted in again just by believing.  Have you tried and tried to earn God’s approval by your own performance?  Well, let it go.  You can just rest in His grace, and let His grace do the work.

Now that’s good news.

Today, give yourself a rest.  Let yourself off the hook and rest in His grace that never stops flowing.
