Day 2: Secret (31 Days of Prayer and Prose)

Day 2: Secret (31 Days of Prayer and Prose)featured

When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. – Matthew 6:5-6 NLT

Father, I thank you that you hide me in the secret place of Your heart. You are a safe place for me to hide when the world is crazy all around me.

God, may I always be more concerned with what You think of me than what the world thinks of me.  May I always value Your opinion above the opinion of others.  Let me not bow to insecurity or fear, but let me always lean into You and listen to what You have to say.

You tell me I’m beautiful.  You tell me I’m worth it.  You tell me I’m lovely.

You meet with me every time I turn to look into Your eyes.  You can see straight into my heart with Your fiery eyes of love.

The secret place is where I meet with you.  And I’m so glad that I don’t have to leave the secret place when I’m around others… Because I might not get to meet with you much right now!

Even when I’m with all my littles, You and I can enjoy each other’s company in the secret place — because the secret place is where I’m hidden in Your heart.  It’s where I abide in You, and You dwell in me.  It’s where we are One.  And thanks to the cross, I get to live there. Thank you, Jesus!
