Cheerleading. It’s what I did in high school. Most of my afternoons, some of my mornings, in the summer sun, in the winter cold… we practiced. We cheered the teams on at the games. It was pretty much my life in high school.
It seems kind of cool to think about how as a cheerleader, my biggest responsibility was to offer encouragement to the players on the team, and to get others (fans) to do the same. The momentum of the game depended somewhat on the enthusiasm with which we cheered them on. And it felt so good when they finished strong.
As moms, you and I have the opportunity to encourage each other in our everyday endeavors. They are not flashy or exciting, but they are important. They sometimes seems mundane, but in doing them cheerfully we honor the Lord who has blessed us with these gifts–these children. *5 minutes is over here*
Let’s offer encouragement to the other moms we know. Let’s cheer each other on. Let’s keep the momentum going. Before you know it, the end of the game will be here. (All the mamas with grown up kids will tell you… they grow up so fast!) And at the end of the game, we want to look back and know we gave it our all.
It won’t be perfect. There will be regrets. There will be things that we don’t do perfectly. But God in His infinite wisdom decided that YOU and I should have these children–that we were just the right ones to raise them to be the men and women He has created them to be. We can rest assured that His grace will cover for us in the areas that we fall short. And His grace will give us strength to be all He has called us to be as well.
Blessings to you, mama! Reach out and encourage another mom today. 🙂
This post is a part of the Five Minute Friday linkup, where we write freely for 5 minutes on a single word prompt. Today’s prompt was the word CHEER. Let’s keep cheering for each other! Visit katemotaung.com to see other great FMF posts from my friends.
