5 Things I’m Thankful For This Week (July 11)featured

This week has been different. It’s been a good different, but different none the less. I’ve been working half days (on all the exciting new things coming to the blog!), so I haven’t seen the kids as much.  Aaaa!  It reminds me of why I resigned from my cushy university teaching position two years ago: I don’t like being away from my kids!  The stay-at-home-mom life may not be for everyone, but it is definitely for me.  But, I’m not complaining.  This is a new season, and I’m thankful God is leading us step by step into what He has for us as a family. (I’m getting ahead of myself.)

Following in the tradition I started last weekend, here are five things I’m thankful for this week.  (What are you thankful for? I’d love to hear!)

5 Things I'm Thankful For

1. I’m thankful for how Isaac says “Diddle-iddle-iddle” with such enthusiasm and excitement whenever he sees our kitty, Milo. He loves his kitty! He started saying diddle-iddle when we first got him (he’s trying to say “kitty-kitty-kitty”).  It’s so cute. It’s one of the many things Isaac does that makes our whole family smile and laugh. I love how God brings so much joy to our family through our son!  We all call Milo “Diddle” sometimes now.

2. I’m thankful for cuddles. No matter how busy my day might get, I enjoy just sitting down and cuddling one (or all) of my kids.  I never want to take cuddles for granted. I will never be too busy for a cuddle!

3. I’m thankful for the time I get alone with God. There’s not always a lot of it, but the time we do get together is precious.  I love the richness of His presence. I love His gentle, quiet whispers to my heart.  To be with Him is my one, greatest desire.  I’ve learned since becoming a mother that I can enjoy His presence even when I’m not alone, and that is an invaluable lesson for one who is surrounded by little people most of the day.

4. I’m so thankful for my husband, Byron! I’m thankful for the love we share. For the dreams we share. That we get to walk this road of life together. He truly is my best friend and biggest supporter.  He listens to and follows the voice of the Lord, and he is so bold in doing the things God places on His heart.  I feel safe knowing I can follow Him and trust Him to go where the Lord wants us to go. {smile}

5. I’m thankful for books. I have been reminded even more this week that reading aloud to my kids is a great way to just be together. When my love tank has felt a little empty of quality time with the kids, reading together fills it right up! So although I’ve been away from the kids a little more than usual this week, we’ve enjoyed finishing A Little Princess together during the afternoons.  It has blessed my heart to hear how they have enjoyed it!

What are you thankful for this week? I’d love to hear about it. Have a glorious weekend with Jesus and your family!
